Cujo Fans.... A little update for you! Consider it a Christmas gift! We know that not all dogs are easy, often they present us with problems and issues that we cant predict or foresee. And whilst we know that not everyone would be in the position to put in so much hard work for their new dog, sadly, we also know that not everyone would bother. We have to give massive massive kudos to Cujos adopters, they really have put in so much time, effort, and were sure probably sweat blood and tears too! Not every dog is wrapped up perfectly made perfectly trained dog from the get-go... but they do deserve time and effort and as Cujo proves theyre worth it! Cujo is a very lucky boy to have found a space at HULA and to have found his adopters. Just wanted to get in touch and pass on Cujo’s Christmas wishes to you all! He is doing fabulously. After a really quite rocky start and two shell shocked new owners we are finally settling down to a normal life. Having a 7 stone hairy baby move in with you is quite world upturning we discovered lol! Cujo has had some quite serious stuff to work through poor boy. We have had some incredible help along the way, and made a few mistakes, but Coooj is pulling through it really well. He has some anxiety issues around other dogs which we are helping him with. After lots of advice and research he is now on a supplement designed to help boost serotonin levels in the brain, having a calming effect. We are working with T-Touch to help calm him too. He is still reactive to other dogs out in the world but his reactive distance is getting smaller and his reactions lesser thanks to the help we have had. He is very scared of other dogs he doesn’t know and we are working on that daily still. However, his walks are now much better with loose lead walking and he gets compliments almost everywhere we go. He is well mannered at home and likes to act as referee when the cats start scrapping and acting out. He loves shredding his soft toys and he has recently started playing with balls which is lovely. He has claimed some rubbery treat balls as his own and growls at the cats if they get too close haha. Cujo is loving and very smart. He adores training and we are working on a roll over trick and a beg trick right now. He just transforms when he is doing something to earn a reward and loves every second! We are building up his mental stimulation with the use of Kongs, treat balls and some Nina Ottoson puzzle toys. He has made friends with my parents foster Jack Russel Chihuahua cross puppy, honey, who you can see in the epics. She may become a permanent friend for him in the near future He loves a cuddle and regularly snuggles on the sofa with us, when he’s not flat out and snoring on his own one. He also has his own bed in the bedroom now. He just wants to be close all the time. We did a DNA test recently, just to see if there was anything else in there. It seems we have a purebred Shepweiler lol. I have attached the report for you ;-) We couldn’t ask for a better more well mannered dog and we love him to bits, and going by the smiles and helicopter tails we get on coming home, the licky kisses and the contented head on chest cuddles and sighs I’d say he’s pretty happy too.
