Culled Hi All, For today’s Update on Ebola Virus in Nigeria, please find the following:- - One of the three critically ill persons quarantined with EVD (the Head of the Hospital where the Index Case was taken for treatment) has died. - This brings to 5, the number of deaths including the Index Case from Liberia. The others are – three staff of the Hospital and one protocol officer from ECOWAS who received Patrick Sawyer, the index Case. - The other two are still in intensive care unit at the Yaba Infectious Disease hospital. - Four Persons traveling into Nigeria from Guinea through Illegal border crossing points in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State have been detained for observation. Their detention is because they were not able to prove that they had not been in contact with people with EBV in Guinea and the circumstances of their crossing into Nigeria was a bit worrying. They will be monitored for 21 days before further action will be taken on them. Meanwhile, security and health personnel’s have been mobilized to provide additional support at border crossings in Nigeria. - So far, no new infections have been recorded as at the time of this update.
