Cultivating ones social circle is more subtle than it seems. The people you hang out with determine the conversations you have, and the values you absorb. The conversations you have and the values you absorb determine what your brain spends time thinking about. And what your brain spends time thinking about determines who you become, how you show up in the world, and what results you get. Ive made several new friends in the last three months who have been getting together on a regular basis. This is a chance to start off with the conversations and values that are more aligned with who I (and they) want to become than, necessarily, who weve been. (To be fair, in contemplating this, Ive noticed that in the last year, Ive been more and more the person I want to become, so Im just showing up as Stever 2014, and its all good.) Who are you? Who do you want to be? What conversations, values, and interactions will get you there? Talk to me, but not about just anything; talk to me about the conversations and values that will lead to the interactions that will get you there.
