Curmudgeon musing of the week: I keep seeing this link - TopicsExpress

Curmudgeon musing of the week: I keep seeing this link involving this annoying, pop culture/Reality TV obsessed, celebrity-apple polisher on my newsfeed. His piano playing displays prodigious form -- but it is the emblem of empty virtuosity. How could it not be at his age? He has not lived in the world long enough for his musicianship to evince depth and resonance. How could such a thing even come to be in this age of near envelopment within the corporate media simulacrum? O, banal new world that has such people int!. Harsh. True. And I feel awful about myself for even thinking and uttering these highly critical remarks about a small child displaying such ebullience. But Im on the kids side -- but he is in needs of an intervention. Not from Child Services. He needs a visit from Cultural Services i.e., a vital, creatively redolent art and music scene peopled with the sorts who mentored a young, brash, confabulation-prone Bob Dylan in his early years in Greenwich Village in the early 1960s. As the years proceed, let us hope soul begins to saturate this childs manic, authority-truckling spirit. Then we might have a force of nature on our hands. Can you imagine if this child talked about Climate Chaos, ecocide and wealth inequity with the same sort of passion that he evinces for Reality TV sub-cretins and the trappings of celebrity culture? youtube/watch?v=FSH0MxTHXNI
