USA President Barack Obama has accepted Invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become the Chief Guest at the India’s 66th Republic Day Parade on 26th January 2015. With this, a US president will be the Chief Guest at Indias Republic Day Parade for the first time. As per White house announcement, at the invitation of Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi, the President will travel to India in January 2015 to participate in the Indian Republic Day celebration in New Delhi as the Chief Guest. This tour is a very important tour for India and this is going to take India-USA bi-lateral relation to a new level. 2. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named Additional Director RK Dutta to lead the agencys 2G spectrum case probe team. He replaced CBI Director Ranjit Sinha who was removed by the Supreme Court from the 2G spectrum case. RK Dutta, a 1981 batch IPS officer from the Karnataka cadre, is now in charge of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the agency. 3. Central Government has approved Rs 43,033-crore rural electrification scheme named as Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana in order to provide 24x7 power in every part of the country. This newly launched scheme will replace the existing Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY). The scheme aims to improve hours of power supply in rural areas, reduction in peak load and to provide electricity access to all the rural households. 4. Future Consumer Enterprise, a part of Kishore Biyanis Future Group, acquired iconic southern supermarket chain Nilgiris for around Rs 300 crore. Uture Group acquired 97.97% of the retail chain, as per regulatory filling to BSE, in which it acquired 65% stake from PE fund Actis Capita and the remaining stake from the promoter, the Mudaliar family. Post this acquisition, the Nilgiri Dairy Farm, will become a subsidiary of Future Consumer Enterprise. 5. Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has de-recognised Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) this week due to allegations of serious irregularities in its functioning. SEBI observed that the activities of DSE were carried out in a manner which did not protest interest of the investors. 6. Indias forex reserves increased by USD 419.4 million to USD 315.55 billion in the week ended 14thNovember, 2014, as per the weekly report published this week. Foreign currency assets were increased by USD 422.7 million to USD 290.062 billion in the same week. Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) and the Indias reserve position in the International Monetary Fund dropped marginally by USD 2.4 million and USD 0.9 million respectively. Gold Reserves remained unchanged at USD 19.73 billion in the same reporting week. 7. Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal secured No 4 rank in the womenssingles rankings after jumping one place in the list while another player PV Sindhu maintained her 10thrank in the same list,as per the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released this week. In the mens singles category, Indian player K. Srikanth jumped by six places to achieve his career-best 10th rankingafter his recent title victory at the China Open this month.
