People who dump construction debris into the river will have to pay a fine of 50,000 rupees. People who dump religious items into the river will also be fined. The Tribunal will set up a panel to advise on the cleaning up of Yamuna river. The river, which flows through Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra, has been polluted with accumulated garbage and industrial effluents. Government has promulgated an Ordinance to amend the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. The government is planning to launch the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana this month to ensure water supply to farmers round the year. In Haryana, Beti Ki Lohri will be celebrated on January 14 all over the state. The families who are blessed with girl child, would be invited to participate in the Lohri celebrations. A spokesman of Women and Child Development Department today said that the participants will also be sensitized about Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme during the celebrations as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch this programme on January 22 from Panipat district of Haryana. RBI has put in place a new mechanism for grant of financial assistance to NGOs and other entities seeking to take up activities related to education and awareness of bank depositors. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has executed three MoUs with the Gujarat Government for a proposed financial assistance of nearly Rs. 25,000 crore for various developmental projects. This includes refinance support of Rs. 12,000 crore to cooperative banks and regional rural banks (RRBs) for facilitating disbursement of crop loan by them in the state in the next two years. The process for the selection of executive directors (EDs) in public sector banks (PSBs) has moved a step forward.The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has given vigilance clearance to 15 candidates who could make the cut for the 12 identified posts of EDs in various banks, official sources said. Napolitano, 89, had announced last month that he would leave office well before the 2020 expiry of his term, citing his age and health, after he reluctantly agreed in 2013 to serve a second term to resolve deadlocked parliamentary elections that year.
