The incident happened after water-level rose suddenly due to water released from the reservoir of 126 MW Larji hydropower project. The floodgates of reservoir were opened without any warning. Former Brazilian striker, Fernando Lucio da Costa died on 7 June 2014 in a helicopter crash in central Brazil at the age of 36. The helicopter crashed in Aruana with five people on board. Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China was on a two-day long visit to India from 8 June to 9 June 2014. He visited India in the capacity of Special Envoy of the President of China, Xi Jinping. The objective of the visit was to establish contact with the new Government of India led by Narendra Modi. Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant on 8 June 2014 became India’s first nuclear plant to generate 1000 MW power. Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayta Samiti (BMVSS) will provide Jaipur Foot to 1000 amputees in Afghanistan free of cost. Former Indian cricket captain, Sourav Ganguly on 8 June 2014 joined Mudgal Committee as an expert on cricketing affairs. Kathleen Stephens on 6 June 2014 took charge as US interim Ambassador to India.
