Current History’s new e-book on how soft power works around the world--a collection of regionally focused essays that appeared in the magazine in 2013-14--includes a piece on India by T.V. Paul, a professor of international relations at McGill University. Paul writes that harnessing India’s potential to “act as a ‘bridging power’ between the West and East” necessitates a national strategy to mobilize the nation’s plethora of soft power resources in the cultural sphere. According to Paul, “Contemporary India’s key values and institutions hold great promise for managing multiethnic societies, especially in the developing world.” Current History’s soft power anthology is available for Amazon download here: amzn.to/1nZXvud
