¤ Current affairs- 04 July ¤ 1) Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, who was country’s first elected President, was ousted from his post by country’s army on 3 July 2013. Who was appointed as the acting President? – Adly Mansour, who is the Chairman of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt (Mansour will be supported by a national unity government until elections are held. With Morsi’s ouster Egypt’s constitution was also suspended. Morsi was leader of Muslim Brotherhood party and was elected President after ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, who ruled the country for over 3 decades. Thousands of protestors were opposing Morsi for his alleged anti-people policies for several days at Egyptian capital Cairo’s Tahrir Square. The army gave 48-hour ultimatum to Morsi to relinquish his post. After his ouster, Morsi was taken to an undisclosed place and Misr25, the television channel of Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood, abruptly stopped transmissions)
