Currently looking to hire a Junior Editorial Assistant. Below are a few highlights from the applications Ive received thus far. • A cover letter that read, simply: You want to hire me. • A cover letter that stated, My eye for detail is strong. I find typos and grammatical errors in just about every book I read. This was immediately followed by a sentence containing three grammatical errors. • A (1,500-word) cover letter that started with this: Im not going to dazzle you with my years of experience, my bevy of technical proficiencies, or my amazing collection of certifications, moved on to this: I realize I have very little if any relevant experience...but, and ended with this gem: I can say that, in my life, there has never been an individual that I have worked with who didnt like me and enjoy being around me. People are always happier with me around. These are gifts that I want to bring to you.
