Currently, the Vilseck Veterinarian Training Facility cannot order from one of its medical suppliers, meaning certain medications, and all prescription diets, cannot be ordered until the VTF receives further guidance. They do not have an estimated date when ordering will resume. Also, to ensure Army communities have consistent access to care, military VTFs have been directed to hire more civilian staff. To support this increase in staffing, there has been a worldwide increase in some VTF prices. Major changes include: increasing the fee for wellness exams to $35 (previously $25); increasing the price of over-the-counter medications; and rescinding the discount for PCS Health Certificates (previously free exam with $2 user fee). Hopefully, the civilian staff increases will allow service members to complete their other missions: military working dog care; food safety and defense duties, leadership development, etc). The VTF apologizes for the inconvenience and hope that their ordering issues will be short-lived and consistent access to care will be met.
