Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has celebrated its end of year and announced at its annual awards ceremony at Currumbin RSL last week, in what was a wonderful event attended by over 300 staff, volunteers, family and friends. Sarah Eccleston the Supervisor of Mammals was applauded for her excellence and dedication, taking home the prize of Staff Member of the Year, in what was a very popular decision. Sarah is a frequent favourite on nightly news giving her casual, candid and warm commentary to many stories focusing on the health, welfare and wellbeing of Australian wildlife. Holding many qualifications, Sarahs Certificate 4 in Assessment and Training has her in charge of training all staff at CWS who work with mammals. 2014 saw Sarah venture to Taipei with CWS CEO of the National Trust of Australia (QLD) Jonathan Fisher, for the SEAZA conference, as well as a short hop-skip-jump to New Zealand for the ZAA conference to represent the sanctuary. Though nominated countless times in her 15 year career at the Sanctuary, this was Sarahs first time to take home the major award. Her love and dedication to the company is unquestionable, finding the love of her life here on the job, Sarah even tied the knot on the property...now that’s dedication! A warm and well deserved congratulations goes to Sarah for her wonderful efforts over so many years and her continued dedication to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
