Curtin Universitys proposal to open a new medical school in the - TopicsExpress

Curtin Universitys proposal to open a new medical school in the suburbs of Perth by 2016 is simply irresponsible. AMSA, The Western Australian Medical Students Society (WAMSS) and the Medical Students’ Association of Notre Dame (MSAND) have combined their voices to speak out against the proposal, highlighting that Australia needs more doctors, not more students who are not yet qualified to practise medicine. The postgraduate training picture in WA is already dire, with the State Government failing to provide internships for all of its graduates in 2013. This situation is only set to worsen in 2014. Curtins proposal will not help Australia, medical students or the community. It is set only to benefit the University itself. Join AMSA, WAMSS and MSAND in ensuring that the right decision is made.
