Job Purpose: To work within one of the Commercial teams to deliver top quality customer service on a range of products and build relationships with our customers. The role requires developing technical knowledge across a range of products and being able to maintain excellent quality and customer service whilst handling high volumes of work across a variety of electronic systems. This role would suit someone with proven Customer Service experience who would enjoy adding a technical aspect to their existing skills. Main Responsibilities: 1. Respond efficiently and courteously to all incoming enquiries in line with agreed departmental service standards. 2. Provide quotations within underwriting authority limits according to specified departmental service and quality standards and refer risks outside of authority limits to the relevant underwriter. 3. Maintain technical and underwriting knowledge for all relevant products to be able to deal with all enquiries, and where possible, resolve at first contact. 4. Evaluate information to be able to make decisions within agreed authority levels. 5. Enter data from source documents into the relevant computer systems, accurately, within specified keying performance speed and agreed service standards. 6. Maintain knowledge of regulatory rules to ensure compliance. 7. Identify and refer any system or procedural errors to the supervisor to resolve and offer feedback on potential improvements in order to eliminate failure demand and enhance the customer journey. 8. Be able to accurately use all appropriate and relevant IT systems. 9. Assist with the testing of question set and referral suites of internal and external software systems to ensure electronic business submissions are maintained in line with accepted underwriting criteria. 10. Deal with any broker account and credit control queries within the specified departmental service and quality standards to minimise aged debt’ owed to the Company. 11. Develop strong broker relations in order to secure business and contribute to the growth of the commercial account. Knowledge, Skills and Experience: • Excellent organisational skills and ability for self-motivation. • Appreciative of the customer journey ensuring the customer needs and requirements are fully considered • The ability to be a skilful communicator, negotiator and relationship builder both in the internal and external arenas, with experience of these skills in technical commercial insurance environment. • An innovative approach with a can do attitude, not being restricted by what has gone before or been tried previously • A skilled communicator at all levels both verbally and in written form, exhibiting excellent listening and questioning skills • Consistently demonstrate the ability to persuade and influence others • Understanding and development of knowledge in relation to Legal and industry developments that may affect the underwriting of profitable business. • Numerical proficiency sufficient to deal with underwriting and reporting data. • The ability to assess technical risk and make decisions within their authority on all aspects of the products they handle or to make referral recommendations as necessary. • Good keyboard skills, with a thorough understanding of the Commercial Underwriting system, and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. • At least 2 A Levels or similar qualification. • CII Certificate / Diploma or similar qualified or working towards Hours of work: 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
