Customer Blindness is when you fall in love with your business, product or solution to the point where you can no longer relate to your customer. Often times we get so fired up because we want people to see a result that we forget where they currently stand. When I got started in my network marketing business, I was abandoned. I had zero guidance or support. My upline was nowhere to be found! The idea of being part of a team was foreign to me. I had heard all the promises before, all the hype and I no longer trusted anyone. All I wanted was for someone to walk me through the sponsoring process step by step… let me watch over their shoulder how they talked to people. Show me how to succeed once, so that I could do it over and over and over… and most importantly, so that I could teach others the same. So people ask… why don’t you show your success and sell with that? Because that’s not where I started… When a six figure income earner told me the secret to success in network marketing is to be yourself, I ignored him… Why? I felt it was easy for him to say… he was already successful and making money, I wasnt… Then I met someone else who had it worse than me… no car, no college degree, $50 dollars to his name, borrowing a friend’s couch to sleep in… and he succeeded in this business… he had accomplished more than I had… What did he say the key to success was? Be yourself…I listened. See, both people had the solution for me. Both people knew exactly what to do and how to do it… but I only listened to the one person who spoke to MY story. The six figure income earner, I could not relate to… in fact, it pissed me off to hear the secret to success was to “be yourself” from him… But the guy who told me he understood where I was, because he’d recently moved out of his friend’s couch and had much less than me… then I listened. If you truly want to help people, forget your product, forget your solution. Understand your prospects story, show compassion for them and actually care about them!
