Customer product review on Titanium jacket, pants and gloves by Andrew M. of Rougemont, NC: I ride an FZ6 fazer, and live in central North Carolina, and ride for both commuting and recreational purposes. My commute has me seeing about 350-500 miles a week on my bike for work, classes, and other local trips, and I try to get out to the hills for a weekend ride whenever I can since I miss the mountains after a few years of riding in Colorado. When I can, I love trying to get out for a few days at a time to camp off my bike, traveling through various terrain and all types of weather conditions. My interest in purchasing new gear from WOLF came from a need for gear that fit well, did its job, stood up across various conditions and ‘the unexpected’, and also that was waterproof. I had heard about WOLF before, but had never considered them for my next set of gear, as there wasn’t a distributor in the United States and it seemed a moot point not to go with more readily available brands. Imagine my excitement, then, when I discovered that someone had finally brought this brand into the US! I decided to give this brand a go, and purchased the Outlast Titanium Jacket, the Outlast Titanium II waterproof gloves, and the Outlast Titanium Textile pants from Wolfmotousa. They were exceptionally helpful in all steps of the buying process, and I felt confident that if there were a sizing issue I would be able to rectify the situation. My gear came quickly, and this distributor was a pleasure to deal with. My only regret in this purchase was that I didn’t have this equipment before I moved as back out west, as this gear would have been a godsend on some rides where my other gear let me down. Any fears or concerns I might have had about commuting well into the fall and winter season are now gone. From sunny days to cold fronts and driving rain, this gear kept me not only dry, but just the right temperature. The lining that comes with the jacket is astonishingly thin, and doesn’t add any excess bulk to the feel of wearing the gear. Despite it’s underwhelming thickness, it breathes like my mesh jacket when it’s warm out, and insulates like a winter coat when it’s colder. Outside of cold weather, the lining isn’t really needed. It zips out of the jacket easily, with the cuffs zipping rather than snapping to the wrists and ankles, again providing a much desired feel of ‘good fit’ when the liner is installed. The shell of the jacket breathes well and is just as effective at keeping a comfortable temperature. The only weather I would not see myself wearing this gear would be on the extremely hot and sunny commutes. On those days the gloves and jacket are a little warm, even with the vents open, but when it’s that hot about the only gear I’d wear is mesh, and even that will still leave you sweating when it’s 90+ degrees out. The outlast gear is perfect for the other 330 days out of the year. With regards to the water-proofing, I’ve ridden in the rain several times with this gear, a couple times of which I hit an outright storm, and the gear did its job. The fit is excellent, the material feels of very good quality. The extra patch over the rear of the jeans sits very well on the bike and remains comfortable, even after several hours of riding. The arms on the jacket have some snap bands that come down and make for an even more secure fit. The front closure has a lot to it, with a zipper, line of snaps, and a velcro covering, but the placement of the snaps is intuitive and it only takes a few seconds to get the jacket closed up, and the reward is exceptional waterproofing. The air vents on the jacket are awesome. When you open the front and back on the jacket it’s like kicking on the air conditioning. Apparently the vent placements on previous textile jackets I’ve owned didn’t consider placement as well. Also, unlike other textile jackets I’ve owned, they add to the style of the jacket, rather than detract from it, providing an angry looking red stripe through the black. It’s not the most important feature of the gear, but if you care about that sort of thing, it’s certainly worth noting the whole set looks sharp. WOLF paid attention to a lot of little details. The ability to adjust the neck as well as the waist with velcro straps was a great touch. Storage on the jacket is excellent. There are no top pockets, but in addition to the two front hand pockets, there is a large storage pocket along the rear of the bike. I thought I’d end up sitting on it, but when perched on the bike, it’s in just the right spot, and I don’t even notice I’m carrying things in it, even when riding with a backpack. If you are looking for a set of gear that covers a very wide range of riding conditions stretching the entire gambit between the days that necessitate the lightest weight gear and the days that require electrically heated gear, this set will not disappoint you. It’s a smart looking, well fitting, well made set that is easy to wear and that has effortlessly became part of my riding routine. If anything, it improves my riding experience. The only real downside is, now that I know WOLF is in the US, it’s getting tempting to pursue a set of leathers...
