Cut and fit in 6 minutes: Higher intensity intermittent training - TopicsExpress

Cut and fit in 6 minutes: Higher intensity intermittent training is an effective and time-efficient intervention for improving body composition, functional walking and aerobic endurance in overweight children, recent study shows. The researchers were also able to show that its the intensity, that counts compared to the higher volume lower intensity training [16 intervals at 100% of individual maximal aerobic speed (MAS), 8 minutes in total], the kids who had been randomized to the higher intensity (12 intervals at 120% of MAS, 6 minutes in total) regimen had greater reductions in skinfold size and needed significantly (p < 0.05) fewer steps during the functional obstacle performance test. And that in spite of the fact that the interval scheme 15s on, 15s off was absolute identical. suppversity | Reference: Lau, Patrick WC, et al.
