Cut the spending on external consultants, e.g. Foraker, McDowell Group, and NCHERM. Cut the costly Division I sports and bring UAF hockey back to campus. Cut out the fancy posters, sign-flags, and building-size banners advertising UAF to an already captive audience. Turn the thermostats down 1 degree in all buildings. Make administrators take a 10% pay cut (call it soft salary). Make all administrators teach a 100-level course in their discipline as part of their regular workload. Downsize the useless and costly bean-counting, e.g. annual faculty reviews and silly outcomes assessment. Make the Chancellor pay his own utility bills and rent. Turn off the Christmas lights. Better still--dont put up Christmas lights. Centralize travel functions, and as many other administrative functions as possible. Tear down the ice climbing wall, and turn off the lights. Make administrators pay the regular parking fees. Trim Statewide by 20%.
