Cutting Beyond Skiing Everest and came across this shot. Chimborozo is the worlds highest volcano at about 21,000. The plain is 10,000 to 12,000 feet below, but to the left of Steve at the end, there is a hut. That is a massive hut 7,000 feet below. We started about 12 hours before, climbed and then skied the peak in a single day, something that to our knowledge had never been done. It was a HUGE day. We had set off with a 4 year plan to single-day ski 20,000 foot peaks in South America. This was the third in a string of 5,000, 6000, 7,000 foot days that ended with a 9,000 foot single day in Bolivia a couple years later.
