Cyberbullying is a prevalent issue in the 21st century because of the increased use of technology as a way of communication. In the song F**kin’ Perfect, Pink illustrates bullying and how it affects an individual. This song was written and produced by Max Martin and Shellback. The creative techniques used in the video to attract attention is using little kids to depict a type of bullying. By using little children the video has a greater impact because it makes the subject of bullying more vulnerable. In the video it also shows how powerful words can be by showing a person writing “skinny b**tches”. It depicts a girl who feels likes she is an outcast and therefore not perfect. She ends up cutting herself and as she does, she writes “perfect” on her arm. However, she rises from the bathtub after she cuts her arm and realizes that she is perfect the way she is. Different people might have different interpretations depending on their view of bullying. Some might think the video is not serious and laugh at the images portrayed because they think it’s silly and unlikely to happen. In society, bullying is seen as a bad thing because it can lead to negative consequences. Those consequences can hurt the person mentally and emotionally. These can mark a person forever and sometimes even lead to suicide. The purpose of the message is to show individuals all over the world that despite the “critics everywhere”-as mentioned in the song-everyone has their own characteristics that make them perfect. Through this video and its lyrics, Pink delivers the message to demonstrate how it is not okay to judge people by their appearance. Overall, the objective of this message is to give reasons for loving yourself just for who you are and never think of yourself as anything less than “f**kin’ perfect”.
