Cyberdome at Technopark to be completed by March 1 The much-awaited Cyberdome, a hi-tech centre for cyber security and innovations in Kerala Police was first mooted in May 2013. Now after two years of waiting, the Cyberdome would become a reality by March 1. Cyberdome which is conceived as a Private Public Partnership-based project received Government nod last August and Rs 2 crore has been allotted towards the establishment of the centre. The project was mooted in the wake of increasing cyber crimes and to gear up the hi-tech cyber cell of the State Police to counter newer and emerging cyber threats. Kerala Police have identified a site near the administrative block of Technopark where work on the Cyberdome is under progress. Currently, the department is procuring the necessary hardware and solutions for the operation of the centre. Furnishing works are also in progress at the Cyberdome. Meanwhile, Centre for Development and Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has started recruiting qualified officials of the Police Department to be posted at the centre. The centre will also recieve technical support from IT companies at Technopark. Cyberdome will undertake activities such as cyber forensics, Internet monitoring, virtual policing, criminal tracking, automated threat intelligence in near real-time, virtual courts and tracking system for protecting children. Apart from these it will also undertake 16 other activities including the maintenance of databases of criminals, stolen vehicles and database on stolen or lost documents. The centre will also work with film and music industry to combat online piracy. Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM), Nation Informatics Centre (NIC), C-DAC and Computer Emergency and Response Team – Kerala (CERT-K) are the other stakeholders in the implementation of the project. entecity
