Cycling path tech: Norway Has World’s First Bike - TopicsExpress

Cycling path tech: Norway Has World’s First Bike Escalator....hmmmm....good for commuters, but less so for fitness cyclers. I have felt the burn going up a hill, however I usually enjoy it and look forward to it. That being said, when I am commuting to work, I wouldnt want to sweat it up a hill. It goes approximately 1.5meters per second and a cyclist just has to press buttons on the panel and the machine pushes your feet up to the top like a rope lift at a ski hill. Its not cheap either; one meter of this elevator costs 2,000-3,000$. Around Seoul, there arent too many hills that this could be useful to a commuter. However there are small hills that potentially could benefit from this. Furthermore, I wonder if this would create bottle necks and/or if some people would fall off and take up the whole lane.... What do you guys think? Check out the video: (feel free to fast forward the beginning...it is ceremony stuff...the lift in action comes around 1/3 into the video)
