Cyclone Hudhud: Essential commodities to be sold free from tomorrow at all fair price shops Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu said that essential commodities will be sold for free at all fair price shops in the Cyclone-affected districts. Chief Minister, who has been touring Cyclone-hit districts tirelessly, is monitoring relief and restoration work continuously. Today, he has toured Visakha rural, Vizianagram and Srikakulam districts. The Chief Minister said that he will not rest until normalcy is restored, said Dr. Parakala Prabhakar at a press conference in Vizag. He added that the Chief Minister has been sleeping in a bus on the road and has been working over 20 hours. He added that the Chief Minister said there would be no compromise in relief efforts and that he would be stringent with officials until normalcy is restored. Visakhapatnam is slowly crawling back to life with officials and the entire government working round-the-clock. People have started coming out on the roads, most of which have been cleared. The government has distributed 1.5 lakh kgs of vegetables with 1 kg being sold at Rs3 today. We have also supplied 200 tankers of drinking water to people. Two 220 KV sub-stations and eight 130 KV sub-stations have been restored for power. The Chief Minister said that the delay in restoring power supply is because we want to ensure that the restored poles do not cause any harm or damage or trip. Despite Visakhapatnam and other districts going without power for over 72 hours, the government has managed to supply water to public taps, he added. Further, some of the ATM centres in Visakha have become functional. The Chief Minister said that few flights and services will be functional from day after tomorrow at Vizag airport. Meanwhile, Dr. Parakala Prabhakar visited vegetable markets in Visakhapatnam and inspected about inflated prices. He said that the vegetables were being sold at market rates. By tomorrow evening, normalcy is expected to be restored in Visakhaptnam, Vizianagram and Srikakulam districts.
