Cymbidium is a genus of the Orchid family. Cymbidium is a sympodial kind of an orchid - it is an orchid that grows from a stem that is normally more or less horizontal. One may think that Cymbidium looks like a flower bulb. Its function is to store water. These kind of orchids can stand dormant time without water. That means the medium in the pot will dry out and their pseudobulbs will keep water. Typical monopodial orchids are Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilum or Vanda which have a single “rosette” with one leaf following another on opposite sides of the center. The native species come from tropical and subtropical Asia (such as northern India, China, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Borneo) and northern Australia. But some species can grow even at high altitudes in Himalayas. Does anyone know how to grow them? There are mainly Cymbidiums with flowers growing up, but as youll see in this video, some varieties have hanging flowers. hoya.sk/rady-a-tipy/1170-aktualizovane-cymbidium-cymbidia- #flowers #plants #kvety #rastliny #flora #zahradkar #interiorplants #cymbidia
