On se rappellera comment Graeme Allwright an avait donné une adaptation française sous le titre « Le Jour de clarté », en effaçant au passage les nombreuses références religieuses de la chanson, pour n’en garder que ce qui en fait le cœur : un appel à la fraternité, à la lutte et à l’espoir. « Tous égaux et semblables […] Nous sommes tous frères et nous sommes tous libres ».
