D-Day 70 years later. Normandy. In June 2014, we visited for the 10th consecutive year the D-Day festivities. This year with so many C-47s/ Dakotas gathered at Cherbourg airport, it was my final chance to get the Harley WL 750 cc and the Dakota in one single pic for my book The Dakota Hunter, that will be published in October 2014 in USA, UK, Canada etc. 2 lifetime passions for those 2 machines, the Icons of Victory for many and myself. They are here in this majestic picture, taken on the 5th of June at 20.00 h. Contemporaries with designs from the early 1930s and built at the end of the war, hopefully to last forever. My book is a minuscule contribution to make this happen and the Harley is fostered as such by friend Bally. During earlier visits, we ran into the Museé des Batteries de Merville, where we found the SNAFU Special C-47, an authentic 6 June Normandy Invasion Fleet Veteran, which was found in Bosnia, Read that story with the other 2 pictures.
