D~Hey Friends! Not that I am much more rested than yesterday, but I am beginning to give up on over rated sleep!! Here is the scoop... Firstly, Amelias nausea has subsided! Praise God!! It is a couple more meds, but if it works, we are happy. No vomitting all the way to Denver or all the way back! It has actually been a couple days. So happy! As soon as the vomitting ended the eating began! Little by little and today we ate half of a chicken sandwich with a tomato! Our appointment with Dr Ball went well. They did bloodwork in the clinic and her ANC is over 10,000!!!!! A normal, healthy child her age should have an ANC of 2,000 to 4,000....so yes, hers is elevated. But this means her bone marrow is waking up and sending out neutrophils to try to heal, well, EVERYTHING! Her healing is beginning. Her electrolytes are stable and I still hook her to fluid hydration every night. Eventually this will end. Right now her stomach is obviously too sensitive to take the oral magnesium her body needs, so this is our other option. We had an awesome visit with Dr Kelly and her P.A. Rhonda. We unwrapped her leg for the first time in 10 days and....it looks fabulous! They removed the sutures, put some sterile steps in their place and reduced the ace wrap to around her knee and shin instead of ankle to groin! We are cleared for regular showering, bending, some exercising (leg lifts) and no brace for normal activity at home. Brace for safety when we are out and she is more active!!! So many amens!!!!! Even Dr Kelly was a bit choked up. Now we pray for continued healing and healthy tissue growth and forward movement!!! Checkup again on the 5th when we return for scans. We visited with our Madi Conley...šŸ˜š...and met a new friend, Makensie. Madi is our AML friend and Makensie is almost 5 years clean from Ewings sarcoma. They helped us upstairs to deliver some Christmas to the 4th floor! Due to HIPA laws for privacy, we were only allowed to deliver to people we knew. So we saw our friend, Sadie and delivered Christmas lights and ornaments. She is hopefully doing her last round of chemo. She has been feeling pretty rough so keep her in your prayers, please. Madi and Makensie had to leave so we were able to meet Nia and her Dad. She is newly diagnosed osteosarcoma in her femur. She Is 12. Amelia was with me, but with very quiet. She had taken some ativan for anxiety and was a bit stressed. Nia was getting chemo during our visit. The Red Devil. The afraid of light poison. Amelia was freaked. Too soon, too many memories flooding her head and her heart. Although I had a wonderful conversation with Dad, Amelia wanted to be away. She later told me, Nia appeared to be nervous and scared...and it was heartbreaking for my girl. Today was this sweet girls first IA chemo. I have prayed deeply for her today and her family. Fortunately and unfortunately, the new, uninformed feeling will be gone. And they will be smack in the middle of the hardest 10 months of their lives. I am anxious to meet mom. I want to give her the biggest hug and the reassurance that I truly know what she is facing. And I am here for them! They have 4 other kiddos and live in the Springs. Please, I beg...pray for them. And for every other kid diagnosed today. Remember, there are 400 everyday. šŸ’› So, basically....that was our day! Thanking God for our every blessing, and for a Christmas at home with the ones we love!
