D.J S and to many viewers, I have passion for movies making and that’s exactly what I am doing.But let me say this to u, I am not critizing Liberian musicians or artists, rather speaking what I noticed, I might be wrong, so please do not issue rate against me. Remember I once told you that one cannot take a gun, put a bullet in it and run behind citizens in Liberia to love LIB Music, Capital NO…. It is what is in the music da will pull fans to it. And for international duty or performance, majority of our artists find it so difficult to have such opportunity to be invited in other countries around Liberia because the following: Most of them are not schooled in da direction therefore lacks musical arsenal Poor grammar arrangement Music lacks inspirations No sound thoughts Lack of philosophies Lyrics do not bring satisfaction to the soul or are not soul touching, and music is what the soul eats. Because they are not fluent in the field, they produced one song on the album for a whole calendar year. One other time on Traffic plus, the host was complaining that he plays western music most of the time because our artists are not producing new songs, so u find out that Djs on radio stations play old songs over and over till the music becomes a noise. Again other musicians from around the country come and Liberian Artist perform with them, they even perform together, but at the end the LIB Artist will locally receive for instance 150-200USD while the foreign artist will walk away with 2-3 thousand United States Dollars plus. This happens because the union is not organized at all, leaders there are greedy seeking self interest. Most artists do not have a well refine and potential sponsors. See all the times Company and Organizations prefer importing musicians and pay them good sum of money than those who are here, their action simply tells us da there is no music in Liberia n no musician that can satisfied the musical desire of Liberians. I felt shame and embarrassed the other time when an LIB star (if one is a STAR in a country or gathering you know what that means) got burned in the fire, the artist could not rally around each other, the union could not go in their covert, meaning the artist refused to pay dues all the time, they all were broke, the star felt from the sky and when off, instead bags, buckets and old cups were passing around in artist hands begging for money to medically attend to the fire victim. The musicians have to work on themselves, sit in their closet and vision something good to present to their fans that will take then international wide, we want to hear and see our LIB music go international. LIB musician should always be on time in producing new songs n quality videos. Engineers should be up to the task not only after the money but can’t perform the task. Let people outside there in places like Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Gambia, and etc be able to understand what the music is all about, the message. As for my area, we do face such problems in the Movies Union as well. We have to come together to find a solution to this problem, so that a musician or an actor or actress will live by what they do to best. Once more, I am speaking my mind, my opinion that I am entitle to as a fan and an ordinary Liberian. If my view, grammatical arrangement and vocabulary offend anyone, please I am subject to correction in a well refined manner.
