DAD UPDATE So, today we got the news that weve been waiting for, dreading, but knowing it was coming for 2.5 years. Dads cancer is making progress again. The ongoing chemo options, radiation, etc have bought us 2.5 years that we didnt expect to have. As of today, his tumor count is back up, and actually worse than it was when he was in the ICU initially. Its got new activity in his lungs, lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and potentially his kidney too. For most of the last year, hes been cycling back through previous chemo types that hes already shown decreasing benefits from. Once the chemo stops being 100% effective, they have changed him to another form. Well, we ran out of options for new chemo somewhere about a year ago. So they started cycling them through again, figuring that less than optimal chemo was better than no chemo... And that has bought us more time. Today, he started a NEW course of Chemo today. Its a formula that has just recently been shown effective on his form of lung cancer. So weve got something new to try. Itll be on a similar schedule, chemo 2 out of every 3 weeks. If its effective, it could shock the cancer growth back down, and buy us yet more time with a decent quality of life. If its not effective, those growths could rapidly advance, and it could be quite aggressive. Fingers crossed, good vibes, you know the drill. Dads not giving up yet, and still has things to look forward to. Heres hoping he manages them.
