DAILY BOOM! Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths. (2 Timothy 4:2-4 NLT) I was having a conversation with a fellow pastor recently about how hard it is becoming to connect with a group, congregation or gathering of people when teaching or preaching the Word. Some have fallen victim to closed ears and hard heart syndrome and will not sit under the sound teaching of the Word anymore. Some tell-tale symptoms: 1. One is increasingly absent when the Church gathers or feels at liberty to pick and choose which parts of a service to attend. 2. One feels that they are beyond what is being preached or taught in the service. 3. One looks for serving opportunities only to avoid sitting under the proclamation of Gods Word. 4. One avoids listening to Gods servants who do not continually appeal to ones ideology. We would all do well to evaluate the condition of our heart. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT) With no sound teaching, our course could lead us to a place we never intended on going.
