DAILY CELEBRATION OF CHRIST, DCC, Saturday, January 17, 2015 Celebration of Christ: Jesus, the Saviour of Sinners Most people thought Jesus was an ordinary moralist, who came to condemn people because of their behaviour. Jesus did not come to condemn people. His only interest on people’s behavior is when it hampers fullness of life and when it infringes on other people’s freedom. Essential Jesus came to save and not to condemn people. He taught love, compassion and forgiveness. In the gospel of Mark 2:13-17, our Lord Jesus Christ met Levi, one of the tax collectors. Those around him were scandalized when Jesus invited him saying, “Follow me.” For the Jews, the tax collectors were among the public sinners. So, they could not believe it that Jesus, a man with such reputable record could accept a tax collector as one of his companion. Child of God, no matter your statue in life, our Lord Jesus Christ is still interested in you. When Jesus called Levi, he left everything and followed him. He even organized party for Jesus and his companions in his house. Child of God, are you ready to welcome Jesus into your house and even your heart as Levi did? Our Lord Jesus Christ is ever ready and willing to honour your invitation. As Jesus and his companion were eating at Levi’s house, the scribes and the Pharisees started complaining, saying, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus, said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Child of God, our Lord Jesus Christ came because of you. He does not even care what people are saying concerning you. He still loves you! Are you ready to give your life completely to him? The earlier you surrender your life to Jesus the better for you.
