DAILY COUNSELING 28th January 2014 BLAME SHIFTING Dr Benhotons John Genesis 3:12 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. Adam in this story was trying to talk away his fault by shifting the blame back on God and this gross act of immaturity some of us proudly exhibit with joy that you could explain yourself out. A mature person must take responsibility for his wrong, he or she who is mature has learnt to accept their fault. As long as two parties involved in a matter keep shifting blame then the wrong goes on and some sycophants progress on this. It is Christian maturity to always evaluate our part in an issue be it relational, marital or family. LEADERSHIP: SAUL SHIFTED HIS FAULT ON THE PEOPLE 14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? 15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed. In leadership we must understand that it is an acceptable fact that everything rises and fall on leadership. You can not blame the people for what goes wrong around you. The responsibility of what happens around you is you. Two major area a leader must guard against is first the negative influence of the people around him and secondly is the negative influence of his wife like the case of Jezebel and king Ahab. Consider: And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. -1 Kings 21:7 Whatever the fault, you might shift the blame but you can not shift the consequences of such leadership failure. I pray that you shall not be influenced negatively and that you shall exhibit the attribute of maturity to accept and seek redress when you are at fault. Lets learn to say: sorry, I was wrong. It is an expression of strength and not weakness and a great attributes of divine nature.
