DAILY COUNSELING 8TH FEBRUARY 2014 THE CONFIDENCE TO PRAY DR BENHOTONS JOHN 1 John 5:14-15 KJV [14] And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: [15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. What is the conviction that you carry when you go to God in prayer. Some approach the altar of prayer with a may be mentality. I heard someone saying to another fellow during counseling session, let us pray, we never can tell what God will do. If you are a Christian with the understanding of Gods word you will agree with me that, that statement is only a religious statement void of faith and scriptural knowledge. We know what God will do when we pray. God also told us what He will do when we pray. Isaiah 65:24 KJV [24] And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. One thing is needed when we go to God in prayer and that is our CONFIDENCE. Another important thing is asking according to His will. If these two comes into place the bible says that, we know that God will hear us. May I let you know that it is Gods pleasure to hear and to answer us but our faith is required. Any time you want to pray, go to God with the confidence to receive. Jesus raised our expectation to receive by telling us in the book of john: John 16:24 KJV [24] Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. In Hebrew chapter four, verse sixteen the bible says we should come with boldness. Not a May be attitude but confidence and faith that you qualified to be heard because of your covenant connection. MEDITATE: Psalm 20:6 KJV [6] Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV [14] Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
