DAILY DEVOTION: IS THERE NOT A CAUSE? Posted on October 9, 2013 by Word of Life Christian Center Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” 1 Samuel 17:28-29 (NKJV) David knew that he had a choice. He could either become a casualty of the conflict, or he could gain the spoils of war. He didn’t sit back in fear; he didn’t analyze Goliath’s battle strategy; he simply believed there was a cause worth fighting for. Israel experienced victory because one man was unwilling to abort his purpose. Don’t allow others to define your life or cause you to second-guess your motives. Set your heart to serve the Lord and never look back. 1 Samuel 17:28-29 (NLT) 28 But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!” 29 “What have I done now?” David replied. “I was only asking a question!” God Bless You!
