DAILY DEVOTION January 19th Lesson Nineteen THE USE OF JEWELRY CONDEMNED TEXT: GENESIS 35:1 – 4; I TIMOTHY 2:8 – 10 Key verse “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” 2Corinthians 7:1 Rika Jeremiah recalls here his encounter with Jesus and how he showed displeasure at the use of Jewelry. “On the 15th of December 1994, between 8:00am and 9:00am, Rika lay groaning due to stomach ache. During this period he had an encounter with the Lord. Rika’s mother, before the divine encounter of her son, used jewelry freely, as is the case with most women today. The Lord told Rika His displeasure against the use of jewelry (earrings, nose rings, necklace, chains, bracelets, rings, beads). He told him they are manufactured by Satan with the intent to defile God’s people, hence they must be removed to keep the believer free from spiritual defilement and satanic affliction. When Rika told her mother what the Lord said, being convinced of the spiritual experience and the source of the revelation message of her son, she responded immediately. She removed her jewelry and threw them away. Preaching against the use of jewelry was part of Rika’s message. This prompted the question he asked the Lord in his encounter with Him the next time, as narrated bellow. I had a vision of the Lord and asked Him the following question: Lord, why is it that when I preach against the use of earrings, some people do not care to listen to me and some of those who respond to my message and put them away, often return to them after sometimes?’ Jesus answered, ‘The Bible says that only few people shall inherit the kingdom of God.” According to this revelation message, Jesus himself hates the use of jewelry. Believers who are wearing jewelries in various churches should know that they ‘can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.’ Our text has revealed that earrings are idols and Christian women should not make them part of their dressing. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Woe to him that striveth with his maker. SONG FOR THE DAY: Call unto holiness.
