DAILY DEVOTION January 24th Lesson Twenty Four WORKING OUT A GOD PLEASING MARRIAGE TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:21-26 KEY VERSE: “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” (Ephesians 5:21). Three things stand out clearly in a God pleasing marriage. (a) Finding the will of God in marriage. (b) Living the Christian life in the family. (c) Managing marital conflict scripturally. For one to succeed in the Christian marriage there must be a proper foundation. A sinner cannot have a God-pleasing marriage, neither can a backslider or the unstable Christian. True Christian marriage is spiritually designed by God. Hence the foundation of a God-pleasing marriage is Jesus Christ, salvation from sin, righteousness and holiness, full submission to God’s word, and pure and godly love are unavoidably needed. Facts about many marriages show that many do not enjoy the blessed institution of marriage, which is a unique work of God among human creatures, coveted by angels. The marital relationship or union is a present denomination of the union that shall exist between God and men for eternity from the end of this age. Alas! Many people are passing through much displeasure, pains, emptiness and even torments in their marital relationship. They live in regret and some have dissolved their marital relationship out of frustration. The reason for all these is because of their ignorance of the way, the truth and the life in God. To the unmarried believers who desire to marry. The secret of a happy marriage is to heed the command of the scripture and to turn to the Lord for the gift of a marriage partner. This is received from God through personal life of righteousness and holiness, prayer, faith, patience and persistent waiting on the Lord.
