DAILY DEVOTION THE RIGHT DECISION “Whether it be right in the sight of G_D” Acts 4:19 The closest of the Lord encountered the hardest of all for the testimony of Jesus. The Doctrinal teaching on the resurrection pained the heart of both religious and Scholastic groups of that time, just the way it does today. The resurrection of Jesus had shaken authority of religious groups and intellectuals, both were proven wrong. Peter and John for doing this preaching of resurrection of Jesus from death were given freedom instead of punishment, in return they were asked not to speak about Jesus anymore. This was the goodness of the people with selfishness and personal interest of enemy hidden under this well flavored cake of offer. Sometimes in life we come to situation, the goodness of people and favor of people that brings us into the obligation to do that what they suggest then what we would want to do. There seems to be nothing wrong in doing so, it does not seem to be sin as such. They did not harm them, they favored them and let them go, and it is sweet favor they show. In life all are given the same choice that we find in the Garden of Eden, choose between good and evil. The same was given to Abraham when G_D called him out of Ur, follow the voice of G_D or the heart and people. Choice was given to Joseph to obey G_D’s call or the Potiphar’s wife’s call, the choice was given to Daniel to obey the LORD or the Babylonian principles and orders. In all these accounts, it is the same message, the obedience to HIS call was hard, and impossible in flesh but they yielded to the Holy Spirit’s call. Travelers tell us that there is, near the Jaffa gate at Jerusalem, a small terrace on the top of a hill, called the “Terrace of Indecision.” The ground is so level that the rain, falling upon it, seems at a loss which way to go. Part of it is carried over the west side, where it flows into the Valley of Roses, and gives life, fertility, beauty, and fragrance to the Sharon lilies and roses. The rest flows down the east side into the Valley of Tophet and onward to the Dead Sea. Every life has its terrace of indecision. On the decision of each one hangs his future of helpful life or of death. Both have direction to flow one standing there would wonder which side to turn, but one leads to beautify the Sharon and other one to Dead Sea. So is our calling: our obedience to G_D leads to life and disobedience to death. Indeed our highest calling is to obey HIM, in whose Image we are created, lest sin destroy us to the ground eternally. It is the power of the spiritual and impossible for the carnal. In both conditions, “The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak (Mark 14:38.) Over the time we have taken wrong turns, we had made wrong decisions, and we all know, what difficulties we are in, what loss we are in is the result of or past decisions. But now, let us not sit on the bubbles of past failures and decisions but get off, dust off and make our mind to do that what is right in the will of G_D. I have choice to make today, like Peter and John did on that day: our wrong decisions and failures have enslaved us to the point that we never enjoy the full Christian life that God has given us to enjoy, which only comes by doing HIS will. May we fall at HIS feet and plead to strengthen us from well of living water and bread of life to walk miles in obedience to HIS will and enjoy the beauty of full Christian living that we are robbed off by disobedience.
