DAILY DEVOTIONAL 6TH AUGUST 2014 REMEMBER TO SAY ‘THANKS’ Relationships are like two hands rubbing each other and when two hands rub, you need a grease or oil to make it smoother. Every relationship needs a grease to stay smooth and healthy and amongst all that is required, the cheapest and yet, most potent lubricant is an attitude of gratitude. You will keep few friends/relationship for long if you have an attitude of ingratitude or overlooking favours rendered to you. Even in our relationship with the Father, we should develop this grateful attitude that is quick to lavish praise and appreciation for every act of favour. Like Mike Murdock says, “What you don’t appreciate, you repel”: In other words, if you don’t appreciate favours, you will always have lesser number of them in your life. The biggest problem with the children of Israel transiting from Egypt to the promise land was ingratitude. One minute, God provides miraculously and the next minute they are grumbling again and never say a “thank you Lord” for anything! God called them a stiff necked people and they could enjoy no personal fellowship with God except through Moses because they lacked the secret to God’s heart. God loves a heart of praise and gratitude and rewards them too. Thank God we are not among those that murmur constantly but people of praise and love. We should allow these virtues flow freely from and through us daily. As you go through this week, be committed to live with a grateful attitude. Appreciate every one that labours for your wellbeing. Appreciate your parents, spouse, children, friends and pastor. These are essential relationships that we must grease regularly if we want a smooth relationship and most importantly, it is an attitude of a believer. Jesus life on earth was full of gratitude to the Father for everything. Once He thanked Him for the few bread and fishes and there was a multiplication instantly. At another time He thanked Him for dead Lazarus and the dead man was back to life. An attitude of thanksgiving is a secret to constant victory and friendship. Yes, you can do this through Christ that strengthens you. Amen. Prayer: I receive grace to live a life of gratitude and I make a commitment today to appreciate favours that comes my way today and always. Amen. Key point: An attitude of thanksgiving is a secret to constant victory and friendship.
