DAILY DEVOTIONAL READING Fri. 23/1/2015 Giving With The Right Attitudes 2 Cor. 8:9-15 God promises to reward those who give towards His work and to other people but givers must have the right attitude. One must give willingly; it should not take the ministers pressurising, threatening or cajoling before one gives. One should give thoughtfully; think of how good God has been to you and decide on your own what to give. When you give, give cheerfully and not grudgingly. God loves a cheerful giver. Give sacrificially to the work of God; do not be stingy in giving to God since He will pay you back. Do not compete with others; give according to how much God has blessed you. God does not compare you with another person in matter of giving but by what fraction of your worth you have given. Give expectantly because God has promised a harvest. Always remember that God gave you all that you possess, do not be selfish in your thought. Point of Emphasis: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully. Prayer Point: In the name of Jesus, I will not lose my reward because of wrong attitude to giving. Memory Verse: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Phil. 4:6) NKJV.
