DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD December 21, Sunday A SAVIOUR BORN THIS DAY Text for the Day: Luke 2:8-20 Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11 (NIV) Everything that heralded the birth of Jesus Christ affirmed that indeed He is the Saviour. An angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds and gave them the good news of great joy that will be for all people. He said, for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (vv. 10-11) A great company of the heavenly host also appeared with the angel praising God for the newborn baby (vv. 13-14). Then the shepherds decided to go and confirm what the angel had announced. Immediately after they confirmed it, they became the very first set of evangelists to testify about Jesus Christ, who has come in the flesh. In world history, there has never been a man like Christ; His conception was unique, His birth was humble, His growth was special, His death was redemptive and His ascension was glorious. Have you given your life to this Saviour of the world? His birth was to redeem humankind from sin. He “being in very nature, God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.” (Philippians 2:6-11) No one else apart from Jesus can give us salvation. Have you given your life to Him? Wisdom: The wise accept Jesus as Saviour and are saved; but fools reject Him and remain unsaved. Food for Thought: Like the shepherds, am I urgently responding to Jesus and the good news of His coming? Follow-up Action: This Christmas season, share more of the good news of the birth of Christ. Prayer Points: God Almighty, give me the grace to share the good news far and wide to the nations, in Jesus’ Name. Pray for the following families and members of their churches: Rev. E.I. Adeleke, Abeokuta; Rev. Nathaniel Oluseyi Oyewole, Ilesa; Rev. Yakubu I. Audu, Kafanchan; Rev. Samaila Ishaya, Maigan; Rev. Abimbola, Olufemi Paul, Lagos.
