DAILY INSIGHT 01:02:2014. 1 KING 11:1-43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead. The brevity of life should done on everyone in tandem with psalm 90:12 which admonished us to number our days so that we may apply our heart unto the wisdom. In 1 King 2:2 David said he goes in to the way of all the earth and he died. Solomon in all his array of wisdom and wealth looked as if he will have an endless reign. He started very well and served The Lord God of his fathers from chapter two of this book till chapter 10. However because of human frailties he lost focus in chapter 11 verse 1 BUT king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; This therefore made Solomon to loose the count of women in his life and turned from following the living God as reported in verse 3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. Moral lesson: When a man starts to forget God, his eternal glory will begin to move toward a full stop and the program of God for his life will end abruptly. Why? It is the presence of God inside of a man that makes him wise and not a mans intellect. He becomes a fool the moment he dumps his God for gods God promises to David was everlasting; God reiterated this to Solomon together with the consequential effect of non performing. Comfort made him to forget the promises of God and this angered God in verse 9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, Will you forget The Lord God that lifted up your heads from pains in comfort? In what ways have you forgotten God today? Solomon lost 10 tribes out of 12 because he failed to honour his own part of the covenant. As reported in verse 11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. How faithful are you to God and his covenant he made with you? When a man forsakes God he stirs up his enemy to take charge of his life as seen in verse 14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the kings seed in Edom. Sin makes a man to loose his honour and empowers another to take ones place before God as witnessed in verse 28 And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph. When a man leaves the presence of God evil spirit that makes a man pant after murder will set in. Just like Saul pursued to kill David from reigning after him so also Solomon pursued his servant Jeroboam whom he singularly promoted in verse 40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon. What an irony: the fool (Saul) the first King and the wise (Solomon) the third king became mate in action and focus. They both chased the shadow of their sins by launching an attack against their successors. God who kept David from Saul. He delivered Jeroboam from the claw of death of Solomon. Let us always remember that There is no good moment that will not end neither is there any sad moment that will not become history. Man comes and man goes but what will be written about you and I after we might have left the stage called the earth? Shall we pray? Father have mercy upon me oh Lord. Let your mercy and spirit delivers me from human frailties in the name of Jesus. Let me walk in the consciousness of your covenant and guide my heart from flagrance disobedience to your word in the name of Jesus. Lord help me to cleave unto you the more on daily basis so that I will increase in wisdom in the name of Jesus. Help me to always repent before you each time I sin like David in the name of Jesus. Lighten my path with understanding that I may know that man is like a flower who shines in the morning and withers in the evening in Jesus name. God please teach my heart not to be preoccupied with earthly and vain things of this passing world in the mighty name of Jesus. Go ahead of me today and deliver my soul, body and spirit from evil of the flesh in Jesus mighty name; Amen. Good morning. Let us reflect on our end as we take the weekend rest. You are irreversibly blessed.
