DAILY READING - FRIDAY JULY 4TH 2014 “And all this time our ancestors had a tent shrine for the true worship, made to the exact specifications God had given Moses” v44 The “Ark of the Covenant”, the symbol of God’s presence went with them through the years in the desert as they searched for the Promised Land. Then came the Temple built by King Solomon – an amazing work of great beauty and significance. In his defence, Stephen quotes Isaiah’s message from God – “Heaven is my throne room – I rest my fee on earth. So what kind of house will you build me?” says God. “Where can I get away and relax? It’s already built and I built it.” (Acts 7:49-50) Then read how Stephen tells the Sanhedrin exactly what he thinks of them in vv 51-53 (best in The Message). The Sanhedrin can’t forgive this and so Stephen is condemned. “The whole earth is filled with the glory of God – only those too blind to see are still wearing their shoes.”
