DAILY READINGS - SUNDAY John 20: 28-29 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God” Then Jesus replied, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Thomas had been having trouble believing that Jesus had risen from the dead. His human reasoning and logic told him it was not possible. He had witnessed Jesus endure the horror of a Roman crucifixion; he had seen his broken and bleeding body taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb and witnessed the stone being sealed over the entrance. He had vehemently refused to believe the story of the women who had met with Jesus and he had declared , “Unless I see - I will not believe” John 20 v 25 . That is so like many folks today. We say “seeing is believing” But Jesus turns that on its head and says , “Blessed are those who have not seen yet believe” Believing is a choice we make. We may have to do it by faith when all the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming to our natural human reasoning, but making that choice to step over that faith line brings the manifestation of the reality of God’s presence into our lives and circumstances. Do you struggle with certain aspects of your faith? Paul tells us in Roms. 10 v17” Faith comes by hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ” Father, give us eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart open to receive the truth about Jesus from your Word, because by believing we have bestowed upon us abundance of life in His Name.
