DAILY STIR 3-14-14 “PLEAD YOUR CASE” Isaiah 43:25-26 says, “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. 26 Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.” Verse 26 in the Amplified Bible says, “Put Me in remembrance [remind Me of your merits]; let us plead and argue together. Set forth your case, that you may be justified (proved right).” The New International Version says, “Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.” We see an example of this pleading or stating of your case in Isaiah 38. Isaiah 38:1-5 says, “In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’” 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, 3 and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. 4 And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, 5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.” Isaiah 1:18 says, Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 55:7 says, “Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” All the scriptures I have shared thus far today are all from the Old Covenant. But speaking of Jesus and the New Covenant of His blood, Hebrews 8:6 says, “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.” Jesus said in John 16:23, “In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” In what day, The day of the new covenant. John 15:7 says, “If you abide in me and my word abides in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done.” According to Jesus, if you ask the Father in the name of Jesus, He will give you whatever you ask. That is, if you abide in Him and His word (truth) is abiding in you. Remember, you are reminding, (v. 26 put me in remembrance) God of His Word and how you responded to it. Again, remember, Hezekiah said to God, “I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight” You can’t be a hypocrite and plead your cause before God, God see’s the heart (I Samuel 16:7). Jesus said in Matthew 6:5-6, “And when you pray, don’t be hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Surely, I say to you they have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” What you do in secret, not what you do openly to be seen by men, will be rewarded. II Chronicles 16:9 says, “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.” Mathew 6:19-20 says, Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. We need to be laying up things (treasures) that we can bring before the Lord as we plead our case in prayer during a time of crisis, like Hezekiah. Again, Isaiah 43:6 in the Amplified Bible says, “Remind me of your merits, that you may be proved right or justified. I state my case to the Father in Jesus name as I walk in truth with my heart perfect towards Him, Chris P.S.
