DAILY WALKING WITH GOD #321: THE SHEEP AND HIS SHEPHERD (2) The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. Ps 23:1 (NLT). David was introduced in the scriptures as a professional shepherd. This, therefore, validates that he was conscious of his position when he described The Lord as his shepherd and he opted to being a sheep. The sheep is an animal with a thick woolly coat that is often raised for meat or for its wool and skin. To describe someone as a sheep means that he/she is a person who does what other people tell him/her to do. The sheep-person is that a timid docile fellow who is especially and easily influenced or led by someone else without resistance. The sheep has no idea of his own. The idea, direction, guidance and guardian of the shepherd are the best for him. The sheep is modeled to surrender to the shepherd in all areas of life including the search for his daily rations, provision of medication, protection, rest, the wellbeing of his woolly clothing, etc. On rare occasions when the sheep may stray out the shepherds instruction, the rod of the shepherd gently lands on the sheep to enforce discipline a d compliance and for as long as the sheep remains docile and obedient, the shepherds rod goes to lead and comfort the sheep. No amount of danger or threat makes the sheep to flee from the shepherd whom the sheep knows as the all-in-all of his life. All that the sheep needs to enjoy unlimited life of pleasure and satisfaction is to simpy obey and trust the shepherd. This is why David fervently and devotedly describes God, his Shepherd, as his Lord, his Strength, his Rock, his Fortress, his Deliverer, his God, his keen and firm Strength, his Refuge, his Shield, the Horn of his Salvation and his High Tower.(Psalms 18:1-2 | AMP). If you are ready to enjoy an uninterrupted life of pleasure with hope of better tomorrow, then you must be the symbolic sheep. Are you ready? SHALOM, PEACE, CCI
