DAMN!! 30 YEARS AND I AM JUST HEARING ABOUT THIS *NOW*? (Really *BEATS* hands-down Macomb-Illinois lame Jazz Festival - I *WANT* TO LIKE JAZZ *SO MUCH* - because of the way fans describe it...the improvisation, the complexity*....the Sci Fi book - and its sequels-Queen City Jazz - the Ginsberg poem Howl - BUT IT ALL SOUNDS LIKE *NOISE* OR ELEVATOR MUSIC TO ME AND *BORES* ME!!!! I can listen to ANY KIND OF MUSIC EXCEPT *TWO* (and *NO*, those two are NOT the stereotypically common answer(s) of rap and country - I dont like most *COMMERCIAL COUNTRY*...but I *love* the Austin alt-Country and indie-country Scene, Americana - similar to Folk,which I also *LOVE [and were on TVs GAC and that other country channel in late night shows like The Edge of Country and Country Without Borders and PBS on Austin City Limits...I mean bands like Nickel Creek and Old Crow Medicine Show and The Mavericks...etc. (Though to *CONFESS* A DARK AND SHAMEFUL SECRET - I REALLY LIKE WAY TOO MANY GARTH BROOKS SONGS!!!) And I even like some Hip-Hop and Rap- though *very little* and it has to be REALLY GOOD - like the guy who does the theme to The Boondocks and atheist/Skeptic/Scientific Rapper - Greydon Square - and NO, hes *NOT* white - but African American and *VERY* CRITICAL of the mainstream commercial rap scene. (Hell I even like *some* - *very little* Eminem.) I even *LOVE* a lot of classical and New Age (though the latter in smaller) thanks to the *original* Cosmos and Timothy Ferris The Creation of the Universe introducing me to Brian Eno.(THANK YOU TIMOTHY!!!) IMHO, Classical is best *live* - so you can *feel* the music in your bones* - but I will listen to CDs of my favs like Vivaldi and Bach and a few others....Handel. Mozart. Gabriel Faures Requiem. I EVEN LIKE *SHOWTUNES*...and Mariachi especially if its live(thanks to friend @ Debra L. Wright) - *BUT* the two kind I JUST CANT STAND *ANY OF*,NO MATTER WHAT. - I just cant find ANY VERSION OF I LIKE *AT ALL* are 1. Jazz. (which to hear fans talk about it I feel like I am missing out on *something* VERY DEEP AND COMPLEX. But I JUST DONT *GROK IT*!!!!) And, #2 Modern R&B - not Motown, which I *LOVE* (so its NOT A BLACK THINK- hell,besides Motown, 2 of my all-time faves are Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong - but I mean like 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Akon, that Blurred Lines Thick guy (RobinsThicks son) who sung with Miley - who I also hate *NOW*....and most modern top 40. (I do like Prince,but consider him in a different Kingdom all of his own.)
