DAMOS TIPS! Dont forget to submit yours at TheGreatTipOff! R2 - #1 EARTHQUAKE, easy to go through her career record but we know she was virtually unbeatable as a two-year-old. The best thing here is she’s come back in reasonable form, beaten by First Seal and Winx last start, and will take benefit from that. Hard to see her getting beat. My danger is #5 TAWTEEN, two wins this campaign before a last start third behind Eloping as favourite. She’ll give them something to catch. 1,5,4,8. R3 – #3 SISTINE DEMON. Forget last start, it lead into the head breeze at Caulfield and died a long way out, not to mention the track was a good 2. Before that he was 2 from 2 at the track and distance. Third up now, should take fitness and his prior start he was 3L behind Chautauqua which is solid form. Down in class, and should be very competitive here. Tips: 3,5,7,9. R4 – Really tough race, going to go with #4 OVERREACH, she’s got the better odds at the moment. Impressive in her trials and all four should have her much fitter than Not Listeningtome, as well as 2kg less for being a filly. Their my top two, ahead of Platelet and Gregers. Just fun bets in this race! Tips: 4,3,5,6 R5 – #9 BIG MEMORY finished eighth in the JRA Cup but was only beaten a length and a half, and had to come around the field with the rail out 3m at the Valley. Before that was a first-up second to Brambles who ran one heck of a race in the Turnbull. Drawn for the soft run, can either lead or sit behind the speed, well weighted, and has a longer straight to wind up. R6 – #10 DISSIDENT, comes in better at weight-for-age and is flying this time round. There will be those doubting his 2000m ability, but he’s being targeted for the Cox Plate this whole campaign. He finished second in the Sir Rupert Clarke over 1400m, beaten a short-half-head and gave the winner 6kg. That’s huge. He’s got a turn of foot for this, he’s super fit already and Caulfield is no issue. The one at nicer odds is #11 DEAR DEMI. Running well against the mares, set for a soft run from barrier 1 and is getting out to a suitable trip. #1 SACRED FALLS has to be included, ran 2nd to It’s A Dundeel in the Queen Elizabeth. #3 FAWKNER, also drawn for a good run from 4. (Don’t rule out Happy Trails either). Tips: 10,11,1,3. R7 – #3 COMMANDING JEWEL at odds. She’s a Group 2 winner, who beat Catkins last spring when she was flying. And gave Catkins a kilogram too. She’s come back well this campaign also, close up for a third giving weight to Gregers, before beating Dear Demi at Flemington. Last start she was third at the Valley behind Dear Demi and Solicit, but had a slower than normal recovery post race. I’m happy to put a line through that, I think she’s rock hard fit and this track and distance suits. #8 SOLICIT, happy to take form through that race but might be better over further. #4 TRUST IN A GUST, been doing everything right but the 1600m is a query for mine. #7 ARABIAN GOLD, winner first up and should be strong again second up. Tips: 3,8,4,7. R8 – #3 AFLEET ESPRIT. Does everything right, has been brought up well by the Hayes stable, and won the Guineas Prelude in impressive fashion. Gives Go Indy Go a kilo turnaround, but will have the shorter run home and take catching. #6 LUMOSTY will be flying home too, but she does a few things wrong. Threw her head around last two starts, and doesn’t like being stuck in traffic. But if she gets a free run, she too will be hard to beat. I’ll go tips: 3, 6, 2, 4 (Sabatini). R9 – #3 RICH ENUFF. Impressed enough and if he runs up to that again he won’t get beat. I’m suggesting he even finds a little more improvement which makes him pretty much unstoppable if he has reasonable luck in the run. #2 ALMALAD, has had a run Melbourne way and was impressive at Moonee Valley. This is a tougher field and a tougher barrier draw. #4 SHOOTING TO WIN, was impressive last start but the start before only beat Almalad home by a head. Might have taken improvement but still needs to find some more here. #9 MERION drawn for a soft run. Tips: 3,2,4,9 R10 – Race in two, and I’ll stick with #1 GIRL GUIDE who has form on her side. Drawn barrier 4 which equals a soft run. She’s still well in at the handicappers after last start so one of those runners you don’t jump off until she loses. #2 SHAMAL WIND is the main danger, will have improved from the last start. #7 GRIANTE looks well placed at the track and distance, and #9 CORONATION SHALLAN runs well fresh. But I’ll be backing the quinella. TIPS: 1,2,7,9. BEST BET: R10 quinella with Girl Guide and Shamal Wind. BEST VALUE: $8 Commanding Jewel in the Toorak Handicap Quaddie: 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 / 1,2,3,6 / 2,3,4,7,9 / 1,2
