DAN Accident Assessment Question: An experienced, 27 year old female diver was on vacation with her husband. At the dive resort, the couple went on a 90-minute shore dive to a maximum depth of 40 fsw (12 m). The dive was uneventful and no problems were reported. However during the dive, the woman experienced a general uneasy feeling that she couldnt explain. The couple surfaced safely, but while they were returning their equipment to the dive locker area, the female diver experienced a sudden onset of acute lower abdominal pain. The pain was more intense than any pain she previously experienced and it radiated to her back. The resort staff noticed the diver having a problem and immediately came to her aid. There was no question that she needed immediate medical attention and there was a brief discussion as to where to take her. The closest hospital on the island was 10 minutes away while the hospital with a chamber was 30 minutes away. What would be the best place to take this diver and why?
