Palestrante: Prof. Amir Raoof da University of Utrecht, Holanda. Abstract: Characteristics of (variably-) saturated flow and (reactive) solute transport in porous media are affected by processes spanning over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. Since pore-scale modeling provides a bridge between pore scale and macro scale representation of flow and solute transport processes, it is a useful tool to study averaging effects and to better describe phenomena such as: spreading of solutes, adsorption of solutes to the grain surfaces, porosity-permeability evolution in reacting porous media, and reaction at the nonwetting-wetting phase interfaces under variably saturated conditions. Here, we present PoreFlow, a pore scale modeling platform to simulate the above mentioned problems through several examples. PoreFlow simulated pore scale processes and provides macro scale parameters which can be used as inputs into the field scale (i.e., Darcy scale) models to simulate flow and transport at larger scales.
