DATE EXTENDED FOR ENTERING PRESS CLUB MUMBAI’S REDINK AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM - 2014 The Press Club, Mumbai had invited entries for the prestigious National RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism–2014. The Journalism Awards have been instituted to promote best practices among journalists and encourage good quality writing, fair play and high ethical standards. The last day for sending entries announced earlier was 15 March, 2014. There has been a steady stream of entries. However, Editors of various publications as well as journalists from all over the country have requested for more time to nominate stories and send in entries. It has therefore been decided to extend the last date of entry to 15 April, 2014 to allow more participation in the awards. In the fourth year now, the RedInk Awards have been expanded and restructured this year to include important areas of writing like ‘human rights’ as well as to draw a distinction between ‘breaking news’ of the day from the more long-form investigative and analytical writing of the magazine variety. For details, updates and information on the Awards, log in to redinkawards Entries in the form of published articles, stories and photographs are invited from Indian Journalists in the following categories: 1. Sports [News] Sports [Features] 2. Crime [News] Crime [Features] 3. Politics [News] Politics [Features] 4. Business [News] Business [Features] 5. Lifestyle & Entertainment 6. Human Rights and Environment 7. Science & Innovation 8. Television Story of The Year 9. The Big Picture of the year 10. Health and Wellness This year too there is a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for a senior journalist who has contributed to the growth and strengthening of the profession. The selection will be made by a special jury from amongst a shortlist drawn up by the Managing Committee of The Press Club, Mumbai. Responses from journalists will also be taken into consideration. Winners in each category will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000, a trophy and a citation. The broad guidelines for the contest are: • The contest is open only for the Indian citizens. • A copy of the published Article needs to be sent along with the entry form. • Individual entries must be accompanied by an entry form that can be downloaded from redinkawards giving details of the journalist and accompanied by a recent photograph. • Entries should have been published / broadcast in calendar 2013. • The various award categories should be studied carefully, and applications marked specifically for the category they fit into. • Each applicant is allowed a maximum of 3 entries across all categories. • Entries will need to be authenticated (supported/recommended) by the Editors/Media Heads of respective media platforms. • Entries not in English will have to be accompanied by an English translation. • Entries must have been published in registered print publications like newspapers or magazines or web-based publications / television networks; writings on blogs however are not eligible for entry. • The entry for all categories except ‘Television Story of The Year’ must attach a scanned copy of the published article or story. • Entry for Television Story of The Year must be sent on pen drive or DVD in mpeg format. • Entries must be mailed not later than 20th April, 2014 to:redinkawards@pressclubmumbai, with a subject ‘Category Name’ for example Sports – Feature. • Entries can also be sent via post and should have ‘RedInk Awards-2014’ followed by the category name mentioned in bold and addressed to : The Secretary, The Press Club Mumbai, Glass House, Azad Maidan, Mahapalika Marg, Mumbai–400001. • A distinguished panel of relevant judges in each category, appointed by The Press Club, will decide the winners. • The decision made by the Judges and Press Club Mumbai will be final • Winning journalists will be provided travel and accommodation for the Awards Ceremony by The Press Club. • No claim whatsoever nature shall ne entertained if the winner fails to collect prize at the award ceremony. • Please read the terms & conditions before entering the contest.
